Privacy Policy

Trackway is a live UK rail information service, available on the web and as an iOS app. You do not need an account to use it, we set no advertising cookies, and we do not collect information that identifies you personally.

Who we are

Trackway (“we”, “us”) provides the website at trackway.uk and the Trackway iOS app. For any privacy question, contact [email protected].

No account, no sign-in

Trackway has no login, no user accounts and no user profiles. We never ask for your name, email address, phone number or payment details to use the service.

Information we process

• Rail data. Train times, delays, cancellations, calling points and operator information come from Network Rail’s open rail data feeds (including Darwin). This describes trains, not people, and is not personal data about you.
• Anonymous usage analytics. We use PostHog (hosted in the EU) to understand which features are used and where the product is confusing. Analytics events are anonymous, are not linked to a persistent identity, and carry no name, email or account. We do not run identify(), session recording, or advertising trackers.
• Data stored on your device. Preferences such as your saved stations are stored only in your browser or on your device. They are not sent to us and we cannot read them. Clearing your browser storage or reinstalling the app removes them.
• If you email us. If you contact [email protected], we receive your email address and whatever you put in your message, and keep it only for as long as needed to deal with your enquiry.
• Server logs. Our hosting provider processes standard technical request logs (such as IP address and user agent) transiently to serve pages and protect the service against abuse. These are not used to build a profile of you.
• Fonts. Some pages load the IBM Plex typeface from Google Fonts, which means Google may receive your IP address as part of serving the font files.

Cookies

Trackway does not use cookies for advertising or cross-site tracking. Analytics identifiers, where used, live in your browser’s session storage for the current tab only and are not shared across visits.

Legal basis

Where UK GDPR applies, we rely on our legitimate interests in running, securing and improving a free rail information service, in a way that is designed to be minimal and non-identifying.

Sharing your information

We do not sell your information and we do not share it for advertising. The only third parties involved are the infrastructure providers that make the service work: our hosting provider, our analytics provider (PostHog, EU) and Google Fonts, each acting on the limited technical data described above.

Your rights

Because Trackway holds no account and no data that identifies you, there is normally nothing for us to look up, correct or delete. If you have emailed us and want that correspondence removed, contact [email protected]. You also have the right to complain to the UK Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO).

Children

Trackway is a general-audience rail information service and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone.

International transfers

We choose EU/UK-hosted services where practical. Where a provider processes data outside the UK, that transfer is covered by appropriate safeguards such as the UK International Data Transfer Agreement or equivalent.

If this policy changes, we will update the text and the “last updated” date above. Material changes will be made clear on this page.
